Risk Assessment

  1. NovaTox specializes in providing risk assessment services to a variety of clients in both the public and private sectors. Together, NovaTox staff have conducted more than two hundred risk assessments for brownfield properties and contaminated federal sites. NovaTox professionals utilize scientifically valid, state-of-the-art toxicology and risk assessment approaches to complete routine evaluations, and those that are more complex or unique. We are proficient in applying various statistical methods, probabilistic modeling, and chemical fate and transport modeling.

Brownfields Risk Assessment

  1. As a core element of our business, NovaTox prepares risk assessments in support of Records of Site Condition under Ontario’s Environmental Protection Act. All senior staff at NovaTox are recognized by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change as Qualified Persons for Risk Assessment (QPRA). NovaTox also provides expert advice and risk assessment review services to the MECP.

Human Health Risk Assessment

  1. NovaTox scientists are experienced at evaluating the toxicological properties and human health risks from industrial chemicals, occupational and environmental agents, pesticides, products of biotechnology, food additives, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and consumer products (including cosmetics, household products, and packaging materials).

Ecological Risk Assessment

  1. NovaTox scientists have completed over a hundred ecological risk assessments ranging in size and complexity for clients in the private sector (often in support of Records of Site Condition) as well as various provincial and federal agencies.

Occupational Risk Assessment

  1. NovaTox offers services in Industrial Toxicology and Occupational/Industrial Hygiene, including dermal exposure studies and dermatological investigations, exposure scenario reconstruction, hazard assessments and toxicological evaluations, comprehensive exposure reviews as well as the establishment and maintenance of industrial hygiene programs.
